Antenna and circuit modelling for high-speed communication in 5G, IoT and SatCom

CPD 1 hour logo

This activity can contribute towards your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as part of the IET's CPD monitoring scheme

5G, the internet of things (IoT) and satellite communication (SatCom) are developing at a rapid pace. One key area is the performance of microwave and millimeter-wave antennas and their supporting circuitry. By evaluating such devices before fabrication through simulation, we can save time and money during the design and development cycle. Recorded with live Q&A on 14th November 2019 watch on demand.

During the webinar, you will watch a live demonstration of creating a simulation for evaluating a grounded coplanar waveguide (GCPW) line with edge launch connectors. The model will investigate the impact on the performance, including the loss per unit length of the circuit board, by choosing different types of surface roughness models. The live demonstration will also present a fast and efficient modelling workflow for large, high-gain antennas using a 2D axisymmetric formulation.

Why should you attend this webinar?

  • Gain an insight into how simulation can be used effectively for modelling high-speed communication devices
  • Get an introduction to the COMSOL Multiphysics® software for high frequency electromagnetics simulation
