Electrolux design competition returns

The Electrolux Design Lab competition opens for entries on 1 March, with this year’s theme focusing on creating healthy homes.

Electrolux Design Lab 2014 calls on design students worldwide to compete for a six-month paid internship and a prize of €5,000 by submitting innovative design ideas for future home environments. This year’s theme, entitled Creating Healthy Homes, asks how we in the future can enjoy healthy well-being, live in pleasant environments and take care of ourselves and others in a way that is creative, sustainable and effortless.

The competition seeks ideas for products, accessories, consumables and services in three focus areas: Culinary Enjoyment, Fabric Care and Air Purification. Entrants should submit a description of an idea, a visual sketch illustrating the idea as well as a description of the consumer benefits. The competition opens for entries on 1 March and the submission deadline is 6 April 6.

The best submissions are published on the Design Lab web site and can be promoted in social media, offering the students an opportunity to reach a global audience.

At further stages of the competition entrants will develop their concepts, post and share new content and write a development blog as well as receive feedback from Electrolux professionals.

As well as a first prize of a six-month paid internship at an Electrolux global design centre and €5,000, there’s a second prize of €3,000 and third prize of €2,000 up for grabs. The public favourite chosen by online votes will also be awarded  €1,000.
