Apple and Samsung have been engaged in a long-running dispute over technology patents

Apple and Samsung CEOs to attend patent dispute mediation

The CEOs of Samsung and Apple have agreed to attend a mediation session to attempt to resolve a long-running patent dispute.

Apple was awarded about $290m (£180m) in a damages retrial against Samsung concerning the copying of vital iPhone and iPad features at a court case in November, but the South Korean firm has appealed the decision with a court date expected in March.

But according to a court filing lodged yesterday, the firms legal teams had met on January 6 to "discuss settlement opportunities" and Apple CEO Tim Cook and Samsung CEO Oh-Hyun Kwon will now attend the mediation session with in-house lawyers only on or before February 19.
