European Commission is inviting female innovators and entrepreneurs to compete in this year’s EU Prize for Women Innovators.
Opened for submissions until 15 October, 4 pm GMT, the competition looks for women who have founded or co-founded a company, which has benefited from EU’s research framework programmes to boost competitiveness and innovation. The ideal candidate is someone who has achieved outstanding results in innovation and has successfully brought her ideas to the market.
An independent panel of judges will assess the submitted projects and announce the winner in spring 2014.
The winner will receive a €100,000 cash prize, with the runner-up being awarded €50,000 and the third best project €25,000.
The competition was first introduced in 2011.
The applicants, apart from being EU residents should have benefited in the past from funding awarded either through the EU, the European Atomic Energy Community Research Framework Programme, or from the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP).
