Aviation flying high

The Royal Air Force Red Arrows flew with a restored Vulcan bomber to kick off the Farnborough Airshow.

The show was officially opened by the Prime Minister, David Cameron, and no fewer than ten senior coalition ministers were scheduled to visit during the course of the week, in a public demonstration of support for the UK aerospace industry.

The Prime Minister announced government and industry funding for 500 Masters level degree places in aerospace engineering and additional funding for research in aerodynamics. However, a long-expected consultation on airport expansion has been delayed again.
