An iPhone 4/4S case that does a lot more than just protect your precious smartphone. Strap it on and it adds about 1.5cm to the height of your phone, but only a few millimetres to the depth. For that extra chunk of space in your pocket, though, the i.Fuzen does three useful things (beyond simple protection). First, the case includes a 1650mAH battery - approximately doubling the battery life of your phone. Second, the case includes its own proprietary headphone amplifier that takes a feed direct from the 30 pin connector, dramatically improving the audio quality you’re likely to get on headphones. Finally, it adds an extra headphone port - so you can share your music with friends.

Gtech AirRAM

£230

Not only bagless, but also cordless - this skinny, lightweight (3.5kg) vacuum cleaner offers something completely new. The AirRAM compresses dirt into “tidy bales” stored behind the brushes. Because dirt only moves a short distance, the AirRAM only uses 100W of electricity - the 22V Li-Ion battery delivers 40 minutes use per charge.

Not only bagless, but also cordless - this skinny, lightweight vacuum cleaner offers something completely new. The oddly capitalised AirRAM compresses dirt, dust and fluff into “tidy bales” that are stored just behind the brushes, in the head of the cleaner. Because dirt only moves a short distance, the AirRAM only uses 100W of electricity - from a 22V Li-Ion cordless battery, that means 40 minutes of vacuuming per charge, with a four hour recharge. And the unit weighs just 3.5kg. In other words, this is a cordless stick cleaner that can get under just about anything, is easy to move around and yet has the power of a traditional upright.

The iPhone killer Google’s Android mobile operating system is looking for? Possibly. A lot depends on whether Apple’s iPhone 5 is revolutionary or evolutionary. But for now, this 4.8” Super AMOLED screen-toting smartphone is a serious contender. 1.4GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM and 8MP camera are the headline specs - promising serious speed and power. But Samsung are keener to push the “smart” features - S Beam lets you share files with smartphone-equipped friends wirelessly, while AllShare lets you share files with your computer or TV. Whether it’s on features, price or spec, the S III is pretty unbeatable (until the next iPhone killer or iPhone comes along).

The world’s slimmest digital TV recorder. The aptly-named Ultra Slim Box crams a Freeview+ HD box in a 14mm aluminium casing. That means, currently, 50 standard definition channels and four HD channels, subscription free. Recordings are dumped onto a 500GB hard drive (room for 125 hours of high-def programming), there’s a twin tuner, HDMI socket and Smart TV+ apps including BBC iPlayer. There’s also a handy ethernet port for future firmware updates too. Obviously, the shrunken size of the Ultra Slim Box commands a price premium - you can get similarly specced boxes for under £200 if size isn’t an issue.
