The "world's smallest, lightest interchangeable lens camera with APS-C sized sensor". What that means is the C3 is the latest in Sony's NEX series that rivals the Micro Four Thirds standard for small lens-swappable compact digital cameras. And the APS-C bit? That refers to the sensor size matching the size of old APS-C film. Less esoterically, the C3 boasts 16.2MPs, weighs just 225 g (body only) and does 720p High Def video. Size-wise it's 109.6 x 60 x 33 mm ("without protrusions") and it can use the new "world's lightest" 1:1 Macro lens, the SEL30M35. In other words, if small and light shooting is your bag – the C3 is a winner.

Okoqu The NUT
£35
A "unique" iPhone tough case – it covers the screen in "optically perfect" polycarbonate rather than acetate. Like other protective cases, the NUT is IPX4 splashproof and shock resistant. Unlike others, the NUT lets you use the touchscreen "with virtually no reduction in performance" but with proper protection. 3G/3GS so far, iPhone 4 case on the way.
A "unique" tough case for your iPhone – in that it covers the screen in high impact "optically perfect" polycarbonate rather than the usual flimsy acetate. The result is that like other toughnut, outdoorsy protective cases, the NUT is IPX4 splashproof, shock resistant and rubber and polycarbonate-protected. But unlike other protective cases, the NUT lets you use the touchscreen "with virtually no reduction in performance" but with proper protection over it. Sadly only in 3G/3GS models so far, but an iPhone 4 (and no doubt 5) model is on the way. Sound volume and clarity is also only marginally reduced and a headest/headphones are usable while retaining the case's water-stopping properties.

LaCie CloudBox
£180 (plus £80 annual fee)
A combined network hard drive and online backup service. The 100GB hard drive backs up data from your computer, then encrypts it using 128-bit AES before automatically sending it on to LaCie's online storage. The catch to such a simple system is that LaCie have now got you signed up to their pricey annual fee.
A combined network hard drive and online backup service. The 100GB hard drive backs up data from your computer, then encrypts it using 128-bit AES before automatically sending it on to LaCie's online storage (and as it's a network drive, you don't need your computer on when it does this). The online storage holds up to the last ten versions of each backed-up file. That means that even if the hard drive is taken, then your files are still available for restore from the cloud. Of course, the obvious catch to such a simple system is that LaCie have now got you signed up to their frankly pricey annual fee.

There's a 180ml bowl "ideal for light dust and crumb busting tasks" and the orb-it runs for eight minutes of vacuuming action.
It's the DustBuster with a difference. The orb-it remodels the snub-nosed hand-vacuuming icon for the 21st century. The spherical vacuum comes in a range of six colours – flip out the handle on one side, and the nozzle on the other side pops out too. There's a 180ml bowl "ideal for light dust and crumb busting tasks" and the orb-it runs on an 8W, 4.8V motor for eight minutes of vacuuming action. The orb-it actually sucks harder than some of the lighter-use DustBusters, but it's ultimately a quick clean-up device, with a designer makeover.
