Competition offers automotive work experience at McLaren

McLaren Automotive is encouraging UK students to enter a competition offering five months automotive work experience plus £7,500 cash.

The Autocar-Courland Next Generation Award run and managed by Autocar, Courland Automotive Practice and McLaren Automotive, is a national competition to support and develop the best automotive talent of the future. First place in the competition is cash prize of £7,500 and five months work experience including a month at McLaren working with designers and engineers.

Entrants from UK universities are invited to suggest, in 500 words, some improvement - be it an invention, a legislative change, a change to corporate policy or the adoption of a new convention, which they believe would be a worthwhile benefit to the automotive business, on a small or large scale.

“I’m really looking forward to judging the awards and am interested in seeing how students with a desire to work in the car industry adapt the brief to best suit their area of expertise,” says Dick Glover, McLaren Automotive’s research director, who will be sitting on the judging panel. “McLaren is a technologically advanced company so I will be looking for applicants who really think about pushing the boundaries of the automotive business.”
