Travel search site Skyscanner has launched a tool for finding flights using social media website Facebook. ‘Skyscanner for Facebook’ allows Facebook members to post a flight request on Skyscanner’s message ‘wall’, and receive a price quote with flight details within seconds, the company claims.
“Facebook is the ideal platform for our flight search tool,” says Skyscanner director of sales and marketing, Frank Skivington. “A poll we ran revealed that over 50 per cent of our users have been inspired to book travel after seeing their friends’ pictures on Facebook. This shows the importance of social media for the travel industry.”
Skyscanner have also upgraded Version 1 of ‘All flights, everywhere’ flight search iPhone app with upgraded features such as finding flights from a specific airport and checking for travel bargains.
