Electronics industry body NMI opens 2011 awards

The 2011 NMI awards celebrating businesses and individuals in the UK and Irish electronics industry have opened for entries.

The electronics industry body's awards, now in its ninth year, includes nine awards for the year’s best innovation, R&D achievement, low power green design, environmental management, manufacturing site, young engineer, product of excellence, supplier and contribution to industry.

“The awards play a very important role for our industry; raising the sector’s profile and promoting the great work of individuals and companies here,” said Derek Boyd, CEO of NMI.

“We invite all industry stakeholder groups to apply for the awards and join the largest gathering of industry professionals.”

Three new awards categories have been announced, including:

• Technology Entrepreneur award, sponsored by Imagination Technologies, celebrating individuals who demonstrate "technological innovation and vision into a business reality"

• Skills, Training and Development award, sponsored by IC Resources, highlighting organisations that invest significantly in their staff to create "world-beating teams"

• Semi360 awards, sponsored by Cadence, reflecting a "growing need to innovate in both IC and application design"

The black-tie awards gala and dinner will take place on the same evening as the annual industry summit at the Chelsea Wyndham Grand Hotel in November.

Summit and award speakers will be announced in September.
