Dragon’s Den entrepreneur Doug Richard is presenting a lecture to University of Bath academics on how to turn their research into business ventures.
The lecture entitled The Entrepreneurial Academic is aimed at academics, postgrads and other researchers and is taking place at the Claverton Campus on 15 June.
Richard is a successful entrepreneur and former Dragon’s Den investor. He is also the leading enterprise educator in the UK and is passionate about collaboration between world-leading research and commercial opportunities.
The lecture, part of its annual technology commercialisation campaign, has been organised by Bath Ventures, which identifies and develops the university’s commercial prospects. By transferring technology through consultancy, licensing, and new spin-out companies, the university helps to create jobs and the businesses of the future.
It is also an opportunity for academics to find out more about funding opportunities to commercialise their research.
“Increasingly government and other stakeholders are demanding clear social and economic impact from the research they fund. Our role is to commercialise the outcomes of this research and secure investment which will give traction to these new, exciting and innovative technologies,” says Ron Humphreys, director of Bath Ventures.
