Over 1 000 demonstrate to support 'locked out' biofuel plant workers

More than 1,000 people staged a demonstration in support of workers who have been ‘locked out’ of a huge building project.

Around 400 Redhall Engineering Solutions employees lost their jobs at Saltend Chemicals near Hull earlier this month after the biofuels project fell behind schedule.

A demonstration was held outside the site this morning followed by a march through Hull which was joined by building workers from across the UK.

GMB union regional officer Les Dobbs said people who marched were “demanding that owners BP reopen the site as a matter of urgency and allow the locked out employees get back to work”.
