iRig mic from IK Multimedia

iRig Mic captures vocals to iPhone iPod and iPad

IK Multimedia has announced the iRig Mic, the first handheld quality condenser microphone for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. It is intended for use in all vocal and mobile recording situations, be it in the studio, on stage or out in the field.

The iRig Mic features a unidirectional condenser-electret microphone capsule, to capture recordings both close-up and at greater distance, and is shaped like a typical handheld microphone. A two-metre cable is attached.

Real-time monitoring is facilitated by a dual mini-jack connector, allowing headphones to be attached while recording is in progress.

A three-level gain switch makes it instantly adjustable for various sound pressure levels, from soft speaking to loud playing.

In support of iRig Mic, IK will make its new real-time effects processor app suite VocaLive available as a free download from the iTunes App Store. Additional software included is iRig Recorder, an audio recording app, and AmpliTube free, IK’s best-selling app for guitarists.

iRig Mic also works with a multitude of other vocal and audio recording or processing apps for the iOS platform.

iRig Mic will be shipping in the first quarter of 2011 for €49.99 (excluding VAT) from selected IK Multimedia music and electronic retailers worldwide. Pre-orders are available now from the IK Multimedia online store.
