Cambridge Consultants' UMI wins at IET Innovation Awards

Cambridge Consultants has been named winner of the Information Technology Category in the 2010 IET Innovation Awards.

The team of judges commended the company’s Universal Metering Interface – UMI – a modular solution for network communications in smart metering. UMI is an open standard, and has already been adopted by Elster for its next-generation of domestic gas meters; Telegesis has also developed a UMI ZigBee module.

The UMI system has been licensed by other solutions providers such as AND, AmiHo, Codel, Plogg, Renesas, SiTel Semiconductor, Insys Microelectronics, Digi, and Simple Solutions.

Cambridge Consultants received its award at a gala ceremony held yesterday evening at The Brewery in London, hosted by TV presenter Suzi Perry.
