Updated workshop management software claims easier ownership
Software developer Exact has introduced a new version of its JobBOSS software for workshops and speciality contract manufacturers which it claimed can more easily accommodate a huge range of company size, technical expertise and budget.
The company said that it has focused on making the software, called JobBOSS, easier to buy, install and use. Companies can choose a simpler version today, for instance, and update to another as they grow.
“The world is changing, and shop owners must adapt quickly to take advantage of the opportunities that present themselves in the market,” said Matt Heerey, Exact JobBOSS general manager. “This new approach to delivering JobBOSS will allow our future customers to determine which offering best meets the needs of both their shop and their budget.”
The Windows-based software now comes in three packages:
JobBOSS Starter Edition is a basic option designed specifically for job-shops that require a simple way to track jobs from quoting to delivery. JobBOSS Starter Edition can be downloaded directly from Exact and installed on a designated workstation without requiring a professional software consultant.
JobBOSS Professional Edition supports prototype and production environments, which includes repeat parts, one-time or one-off parts and/or mixed-mode manufacturing. This allows shop owners to quote to customer requirements without sacrificing the flexibility to make changes on the fly.
JobBOSS Enterprise Edition is designed for companies already familiar with ERP software and who expect complete job control. It offers a growth path into more complete business process management and automation with integrated CRM, workflow and document management, business activity monitoring and advanced scheduling.
The company added that JobBOSS version 11.3 also includes a new serialisation module for job shops looking for opportunities in industries that require some level of part serialisation, such as the medical device or electronics manufacturing industries. Other additions are a completely new integration to QuickBooks, and a self-install wizard designed to accelerate the process of quoting, scheduling and delivering jobs.
