Hop over to Oz for your gap year

Falling unemployment rates in Oz mean more job opportunities for everyone. Same story in Canada: the economic recovery is good news for the gap year.

According to BUNAC, which specialises in work abroad, the Australian unemployment rate dropped to 5.3 per cent in January 2010, with employers hiring nearly 16,000 full-time workers, plus 36,900 part-time staff. In Canada, employment grew by 43,000 in January 2010 - the fourth employment gain in six months.

“The latest job figures from Australia and Canada are welcome news all round. We’re expecting to see a surge in applications as candidates gain confidence in local job markets. It’s a great chance to get some valuable work experience abroad,” said Callum Kennedy, BUNAC director.
