Head to Yorkshire for a work placement
Unis in Yorks and Humber have got together to put up money for internships throughout the region.
Graduates from any UK university can participate in the scheme, which has winkled out internships in the following sectors of particular interest to you:
Low carbon
Digital industry
Life sciences and pharmaceuticals
Advanced manufacturing
Engineering construction
The cash, channeled through the unis by the Higher Education Funding Council, is going out to organisations that could benefit from employing a recent graduate in a short-term placement. They’ll get £100 a week towards the cost of a three-month internship, while the grads themselves will be paid £300 a week.
There are 60 internships on offer: when the scheme ran last year, many of the grads were offered permanent positions with their employers.
The Yorkshire initiative is part of the national graduate internship scheme, promoted by the Federation of Small Businesses. To apply, go to the careers service of any of the universities listed right, or check out which other unis nationwide are taking part.
