EPOS system proves Finnegan's is no small fry
Finnegan’s Fish Bar in Porthcawl, Wales, voted ‘Best Chippy’ runner-up in the 2010 National Fish & Chip Shop Awards, now sells on average three times more fish and chips than rivals using PointOne EPoS (electronic point of sale solution), the esteemed food outlet claims.
Installed at Finnegan’s Fish Bar restaurants in Bridgend, Porthcawl, and Port Talbot, PointOne EPoS has ‘improved accuracy for the fish fryer, speeded-up the food ordering process, and also enhanced customer service’.
The solution has also provided the business with more far reaching benefits as Huw Jones (pictured, right), owner of Finnegan’s Fish Bar explains.
“In this business, when you cannot be in three places at the same time, but still need to stay in control,” Jones explains. “Having access to key information through a single source from any location is crucial.”
With PointOne’s Head Office facility, Huw can remotely access critical business information for any Finnegan’s outlet and draw off reports, in real-time whether he is working from home or on the move.
“Using a web connection with my I-phone, I can review the daily sales figures for each outlet, and check stock control,” Jones adds. “This shows me which products are selling well; I can also check sell-by dates, and see if any produce has been wasted on that day. I can review staff attendance, and even drill down to productivity levels to check performance as well as see who is on site”.
Jones believes that many fish fryers have been “conservative” about investing in new technology for their business: “I will definitely be recommending it to business colleagues. It’s a no brainer”.
