Barbie gets geek chic makeover

Those seeking ‘cyberellas’ to inspire young female computer scientists may (or may not) welcome support from toy legend Barbie: the fashion doll has launched a new ‘career’ as an IT professional.

When the diminutive role model manqué invited consumers to help chose her next job move more than 500,000 voted Barbie into a career as a ‘digital diva’: debuting at this year’s International Toy Fair, Computer Engineer Barbie’s ensemble features a binary code patterned T-shirt, matching over-jacket, and snug black leggings.

The ensemble is accessorised with smart phone, Bluetooth headset, pink laptop, and branded laptop travel bag. Computer Engineer Barbie is, however, won’t be available for work until this October. More IT section news
