Olympus outs 30x zoom SP-800UZ before PMA show

Olympus has announced details of its new SP-800UZ 30x optical zoom digital camera before its official unveiling at the PMA show in Anaheim, California in late February. The PMA show is the world's largest photo imaging technology trade show.

The Olympus SP-800UZ is a compact digital with a 30x optical zoom lens, 2GB memory, 3" LCD and 14MP sensor. The camera has built in "Dual" image stabilisation (mechanical and digital processing) to combat any hand shake that will be magnified at such zoom levels. The camera shoots 10fps bursts or video in High Definition.

Prior to the PMA show, Olympus have already also released details of new waterproof and shockproof cameras, the Mju TOUGH-6020 and Mju TOUGH-8010.

The SP-800UZ is expected to launch in March, at £370. A slightly lower-specified sibling, the SP-600UZ will retail for £260.
