Apple poised to launch tablet on 27th of January
Apple has confirmed a press event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco next Wednesday at 10 am local time (6pm GMT) where the Cupertino based company is expected to unveil a tablet form factor device.
While even the existence of Apple's tablet has yet to be officially confirmed, rumours and half-truths have reached such a critical mass that it would be a major surprise not to see it breaking cover next week. What it will be called, however, still remains a mystery, with the two leading contenders being iSlate and iTablet.
In further Apple related news emerging today, the Wall Street Journal is quoting unnamed sources stating that Apple is talking to publisher HarperCollins to make its electronic books available to a ‘”forthcoming” Apple product line implying that any tablet device would have e-book functionality.
The Wall Street journal also quoted unnamed sources in December stating that Apple was poised to launch a tablet device in January 2010.
The recent Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this month also saw the launch of a variety of ARM based tablet devices from the likes of Freescale, Qualcomm, Samsung, HP and Dell.
