Novell reports open-source income boost
Novell has reported $40m of product revenue from its open-source solutions line in its Q3/09 financial results, of which $38m was from Linux Platform products - up 22 per compared to the product revenue from Linux platform products from the same period last year.
For the fiscal quarter ended 31 July 2009, Novell reported net revenue of $216m; this compares to net revenue of $245m for Q3/08. GAAP (generally accepted accounting principals) income from operations for the third fiscal quarter of 2009 was $21m, compared to GAAP income from operations of $1 million for the same quarter last year.
On a non-GAAP basis, income from operations for the third fiscal quarter of 2009 was $33m – up $9m on last year’s results.
Product revenue from Novell’s Identity and Security Management line was $30m, of which Identity, Access and Compliance Management generated $28m, down 16 per cent compared to the product revenue from the same period last year.
Product revenue from Systems and Resource Management products was $40m, down 15 per cent compared to the same period in 2008. Workgroup product revenue of $81m decreased 12 per cent on 2008’s figures.
