Reference design kits offer faster prototyping of LED lighting applications

Future Lighting Solutions is offering bundled reference design kits which it claimed will make it easier to prototype LED lighting designs and applications.

The kits will allow designers to order a complete set of compatible components to match their chosen driver IC, including power inductors, capacitors and current sensing resistors. The company said it can offer kits for Diodes Inc., National Semiconductor, NEC Electronics and ON Semiconductor drivers, with NXP options to be added shortly.

The reference 'Quick Kits', which FLS claimed can be shipped within 72 hours worldwide, come from NIC Components and can be ordered online by selecting the appropriate driver IC.

The company said that designers can also replace or delete recommended kit items, and quickly find other products in the Quick Kit library by inputting the desired parameters into the website.

"These NIC Quick Kits extend our mission of providing a single source for all LED application development needs," said François Mirand, European technical manager for FLS. "This is another step in our efforts to make solid-state lighting solutions simple for the engineering community."
