One In 10 wireless routers returned due to complexity
A recent consumer survey in the US conducted by ABI Research had found that most home owners are put off from updating their wireless networks due to their complexity – and a third of respondents could not set up a network at all.
“Although nearly 30 percent of the 1007 respondents to the servey reported some initial difficulties in setting their equipment, only 11 percent actually returned products as being ‘too hard,’” said analyst Michael Inouye.
More than half of the respondents indicated that troubleshooting software would be valuable to them – the survey suggested.
The reports author warns that the problem could get worse as the associated setup and maintenance will soon become much more complex as networks increasingly assume the role of distributing multimedia content around the home.
