Attenda to take on Regus data centre ops
Workplace provider Regus, has contracted Attenda to manage it data centre operations that provide critical applications and services to its global operations. Regus operates over 1,000 business centres across 450 cities in 75 countries.
The incoming Attenda platforms deliver Regus’ 14 lines of business applications, which range from regus.com, their e-commerce website, to Titan, a custom-developed application for enterprise planning and invoicing, which processes millions of pounds per month, globally.
Attenda will also support Regus’ messaging platform, together with three finance applications and SAP Business Objects analytics tool. The Attenda solution comprises some 200 servers in a hybrid physical and virtual architecture across two main data centres.
“Attenda’s experience in infrastructure consolidation and virtualisation has enabled some 60 per cent of the servers to be virtualised,” says Regus COO Rudy Lobo, consolidating over 100 physical servers down to 12. “The remaining physical servers represent database clusters for SQL Server, Microsoft Exchange Server, and other applications.”
The Attenda solution extends the implementation of virtualisation to include Regus’ network and security infrastructure. Regus also has about 40Tb of storage from Attenda’s shared SAN (storage area network) and NAS (network-attached storage) platforms.
“We plan to embrace virtualisation much more aggressively in the next 12-18 months,” adds Lobos.
