Aecom wins rail contracts in India

Technical and management support business Aecom Technology Corporation has been awarded two passenger rail contracts in India, together worth $50m.

The two contracts cover work on passenger railways serving the cities of Chennai and Kolkata as part of joint ventures. Aecom will contribute design expertise as well as project- and construction-management services.

The US$3bn Chennai Metro Rail project includes two rail lines spanning approximately 45km, and includes 36 stations and a depot. The value of this project to Aecom is expected to be $30m.

The $1bn Kolkata Metro Rail project encompasses work on the Kolkata East-West line covering approximately 18km through the city centre and 12 stations. The value of this project to Aecom is expected to be $20m. Both projects are scheduled for completion in 2015.
