UK academic wins prestigious award ?

The European Director of the University of Huddersfield’s Business School has been awarded a prestigious medal from a Polish university

The Celebration Medal was given to John Anchor by the University of Rzeszow’s Professor Sylwester Markasi, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, as recognition of his outstanding quality of assistance and dedication to furthering international co-operation.

“I am absolutely delighted to receive the Celebration Medal, both for myself and the Business School,” says John. “The award is further recognition of the Business School’s pioneering approach to European recruitment, curriculum development, research and teacher exchange.

“The development of these partnerships has put the University in pole position in the long term competitive race in this part of the world. Our success in Europe also contributes to the achievement of Huddersfield’s stated aim to be a University of international renown”.

John Anchor is a former Oldham Borough Council member and oversees courses run at the University Centre Oldham. His current teaching is in strategic management and he also supervises dissertation students at Bachelor, Master and PhD level. He also has expertise in Industrial Economics and International Business.

John’s research interests are strategy and policy, in a variety of organisational contexts (both business and non-business), including banking, defence, retailing, education, housing and local government - sometimes with links to subjects such as information management and risk management.

In addition to his academic activities, John has had significant involvement in public affairs in general.
