Home teams absence from European Championships boosts gadget sales

The absence of UK teams in this year’s European Championships has boosted sales of consoles and gadgets to young men, claims one UK Internet retailer.

Mark Pearson, managing director of Shoppers Revenge believes that England’s failure to qualify for the European Cup in Austria and Switzerland is directly responsible for a spike in sales of up to 230 percent compared to sales last year.

Shoppers Revenge claims to have noticed a peak in sales between 7pm and 9.30pm during the first week of the tournament.

“As soon as we spotted the sales increases, it was obvious as to the reason. There is simply no other explanation! Perhaps men are trying to fill their time with these fun purchases to get over the fact that none of the countries who make up the UK are taking part in the tournament,” said Pearson.
