Hannover Messe 2011

The last of three previews highlights some of the key exhibitor activities of interest to visiting control and automation professionals

Even the most advanced robots and automated systems cannot function without humans, and this is one reason why Hannover Messe 2011 is placing an emphasis on the interface between man and machine. Exhibitors will aim to show how production processes can be operated in more straightforward ways. The Industrial Automation component of Hannover Messe is one of its most popular, occupying seven exhibition halls, and ranging from industrial communication and measurement and control technology, through conventional plant and systems engineering, to robotics.

Production technologies suppliers such as Kawasaki, IBG Automation, and Stäubli will showcase solutions in Hannover Messe’s Hall 17. Kawasaki’s robot solutions make it a player in the areas of spot and arc welding, assembly, packing, and painting.
IBG Automation, meanwhile, supplies tailor-made automation systems for industrial sectors such as automotive engineering, communication, and wind power; Stäubli specialises in mechatronics solutions for textile machines, coupling systems, and industrial robots.

Locative in Hall 14, the Mobile Robots & Autonomous Systems product category is likely to be another crowd-puller. The portfolio ranges from cleaning systems for solar panels, through driverless transport systems, to highly-flexibilised production and logistics solutions.

Assistant robots are proving increasingly helpful in the day-to-day lives of people with physical disabilities; products on display in this section range from sensor-based solutions for indoor navigation, to non-contact energy transfer systems.
