IET Innovation Awards recognise sports technology
Innovations in sports technology will be a new category in this year's IET Innovation Awards.
A new category that recognises sports technology will be part of this year’s Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Innovation Awards.
The new sports technology category is in recognition of London 2012, and would recognise the most ground-breaking sports technology innovations and applications, the IET said.
A final call for entries has now been issued for the awards, which honour the most innovative individuals and companies at the forefront of science, engineering and technology. Electronics, healthcare and sustainability are some of the 15 categories in the awards.
IET director of knowledge Tim Hamer said: “Engineering plays a vital role in enriching our daily lives - from the transport that we take to the electronic devices that we use - and these awards recognise the most innovative players in industry.”
The new sports technology category was “particularly exciting, celebrating the role of science, engineering and technology in pushing the boundaries of athletic participation and performance”, he said.
The deadline for entries is July 31. A shortlist will be announced in early October ahead of the awards ceremony on November 22 in London.
