What is the internet, really?
What is the internet, really?
25 September 2012 by Dominic Lenton
When Nick Smith reviewed 'Tubes: Behind the Scenes at the Internet' by Andrew Blum in the August issue of E&T he described the US journalist's lighthearted look at the physical infrastructure underlying the information superhighway as "an engaging book that is part digital history and part geeky thriller".
If you want to get a flavour of the book, Blum has now done a short TEDTalk video for ted.com called 'What is the Internet, really?', looking at the fundamental idea of "where the Internet lives".
It's free to view, will only take 12 minutes of your time, and at the time of posting had been watched by over 180,000 people.
